I’m recovering from the flu this weekend. It is a great comfort to be able to sit by the window with my tea, remembering these beautiful things and sharing them with you.
When my children were small, I would make them “a plate of good things”. It started as a way to offer them healthy snacks. I enjoyed curating the plate: sliced avocado, cucumber circles, a few cubes of cheese.
Now, more and more, I am that (annoying?) person who recommends books and films and music videos to family members, students and friends, I thought I’d come here and share the discovery - and the love with you!
This is list is short because (cough, cough) I need to take a wee nap now. In the future, I’ll include recipes from my own kitchen (I’m a pretty great cook) and recommendations for films I’ve loved and tools (like pens and notebooks) that I use.
I’ll send these lists once or twice a month - probably. We’ll see.
Here you go, love. A plate of good things. Savor them in your own time and way.
This looks so good, doesn’t it? Now I’m hungry. :)
Audiobooks
Jane Fonda: My Life So Far. I listen as I drive. Over and over, I have the same thought: I never knew. Beautifully written. Candid. Just stunning in its range and self-reflection. Jane Fonda has led an extraordinary life. I never knew.Ann Patchett’s Tom Lake. Performed by Meryl Streep. Just… oh my goodness this was lovely.
Book:
Clark Strand’s Waking up to the Dark: The Black Madonna's Gospel for An Age of Extinction and Collapse was the book club selection in my School of Magic this winter. Strand writes about the Hour of God, that time ‘between sleeps’ at around 2 am, when our biological clock wakes us up in the dark. I wrote, over here, about how this book influenced my own sleep.Video:
“Make it fun or let it go.” My coach sent this to me when I was flailing around with a decision. It helped. An animated conversation from Abraham-HicksMusic:
Fast Car: Tracy Chapman and Luke Combs at the Grammys (the full performance)Did you see this on the Grammys? I didn’t. I was sleeping. The next day, it was all anyone was talking about. I went to find it but there were copyright issues and only short pieces of it were available. Now, finally, a link to the full performance. Enjoy.
Okay. Nap time for me. I’ll be back with new blog posts this week. Some new Flow Transmissions, and (new) curated transcripts from my Journey program. Until then, I’m always eager to connect with you. :)

“Curated lists of favorite things from people who I resonant with are one of my favorite things! “ Same. Here’s a book I’m listening to: Being Mortal by Atul Gawande
Curated lists of favorite things from people who I resonant with are one of my favorite things! Thanks in particular for the Tracy Chapman link. I’ve seen youtube videos of it before, but never as well done as this one, and it’s something I could watch (and have) over and over. Looking forward to another list whenever you have one ready to share!
