Flow 1:2 I ask the guides: What did you mean when you said, "This is the word of the flow - of God"?
The conversation continues with a question about the last thing the guides said
What do you mean when you say, “This is the word of the flow - of God?” Any claim that I am speaking with ‘God’ or any other named deity makes me squirmy.
Now we can see that you hesitate at the word God and yes, we see your fear that this word can draw unwanted attention – the gaze of Mordor (as you are imagining) and yes, this IS a funny and fitting metaphor for how attention is drawn by powerful memes.
By using the word ‘memes’, the guides explain, they are pointing to the teaching that some words have more power than others. Names like God, angels, Devil —are more than mere words. They are conceptual containers, impregnated with the energy, the projection of countless thoughts from countless individuals over time.
Words, as we have said before, are containers. We have not yet talked about memes in this book. We will weave this discussion of memes (energy infused words) and the power of names into our teaching as we return to the flow of today’s message.
This is it. Nothing is wrong.
There is nothing but this. You are here and can only be here. You, Amy, cannot be in the future, controlling how these words will be received. You, Reader, cannot be in the past, changing the words Amy takes down. Still, all of you carry pieces of the past into the present - like the projections of countless others onto the word God.
Nothing is wrong with stopping to ask questions. Nothing is wrong with the feelings of uncertainty or doubt which arise during this encounter. All of this is good.
We return to the lesson on binding [offered in the last post].
Binding a painful experience is a natural response to overwhelm. You bind what you cannot integrate. Then, you carry these bound memories around with you as as ‘trauma’, ‘wound’, ‘memory’.
The same is true of words like God. When an experience is too big for the psyche to flow without resistance, it is bound into a name (a word, label, diagnosis) which then contains the powerful (emotional) energies. This containment keeps it from overwhelming the mind, the heart, the body.
As such, binding itself is not ‘bad’, and it is not something to be overcome or fixed or driven away. It is a natural human activity, a natural self-protective gesture of Love for you.
All that is here now with you is blessed, a part of ‘the good’, the field of Love and Blessing. This is the Flow.
You will carry the bound energies of the past into the present until you are ready to unbind them. When this happens, all that was once deigned overwhelming and ‘too big’ is recalled for release. Know that you are ready for this. These feelings are not ‘too big’ for you now. Once they move through your emotional field they will be gone. Released from their bindings, they will re-turn to the flow, never to trouble you again.
Released from binding all energy returns to the flow.
Once released, all energy is neutral - neither good nor bad, neither painful nor pleasurable. The flow is pure energy without the names you give. All healing works in this way, including the natural flow of healing and unbinding of symptoms (bound energy in the body). Just as, on the skin, there may be a painless scar after a physical wound heals, so you may sense scars in the field of memory. Energetic ‘scars’ where you once felt pain.
As the memory dissolves into the flow, the scars no longer trouble you. The pain, which was (in essence) only bound energy, pressing against its bindings, has been liberated. You are free.
All energy returns to the flow, where it joins the ‘wholeness without a name’, which contains all named things and all that is unnamed: that which you know as ‘God’.
It is from this wholeness that we speak to you today - and yet, God is not its name for the wholeness has no name. It needs no name. It is the primordial sea of all that is – energy flowing endlessly, infinitely, into and out of the cups of creation.
If you are enjoying The Flow Materials, I’d love to hear from you. Leave a comment, like the posts - and by all means: Ask questions and share your own experiences in the comments.
As the guides have shown me, the more we engage with the work, the more the work expands in us and around us.
Thank you for reading. Sending you so much love.
