Listen, they said. I listened. (Humming with the angels)
My early notes, in which, the angels teach me to train my attention and a note from today, when it happened again!
I close my eyes and there is a spinning, dancing light.
That is your attention darting about, the angels say. This is a visual of how unfocused you are.
I laugh.
They play me a single tone. I try to copy it by humming the same tone. This takes work. We do it over a period of several weeks.
I wake from sleep. It’s dark. There is humming.
The angels play a low tone and I try to attune to it. I lie in bed, humming up and down, trying to match my voice to the precise vibration.
One morning, the tone is an ancient sound. The deep notes of a flute, an owl calling out in the forest. In my body, this tone feels Jewish. It feels Moonlit. Like sound moving through a hollow log. As I hum, the sound opens around me.
I am in the sound. An image flashes: I see a lake. I’m in the forest. My nostrils detect tones of chlorophyll and yesterday’s campfire. I am walking. Flickering sunlight. My feet crunch pine needles.
There is so much information in a single tone: color, scent, texture. We have no idea what our senses can do - can remember. No idea what we already know.
A few hours later, as I was taking this all down, the angels sent a different tone. It sounds like a kettle drum, like the rich flute notes in the opening of August’s Rhapsody.
Hum, they remind me. By humming you can calm your attention quickly. They remind me of the flitting, dancing energy balls symbolize my attention. They tell me, When you come to center the ball will rest. A still point.
When I come to center the ball will rest.
We are like spiders, the angels say, spinning silk with our attention. Threads of bondage we use to bind off parts of the world that hurt or frighten us.
They say,
The bondage of all suffering is made of these threads. To release these threads, speak to yourself from pure love. As if Love were speaking your name. As if Love were speaking to your heart.
Like this:
I release you from the bondage of shame. Thank you for your hard work. I release you to the good. I bless you. All of you. I release you, beautiful face, from the bondage of shame. I release you, bright big eyes and you, sweet cheeks. I love you, smile. I love you, lovely eyebrows. I love you, nose, even though you are imperfect. Thank you for smelling. Thank you for sensing. I release you hips and thighs. I release you soft comfortable buttocks. I release you soft belly. I release you calves and ankles, speckled with spider veins. I release you and I am so grateful to you for carrying me all of these years. Thank you for your hard work. I release you to the good. I bless you all.
I am so grateful for your presence here with me today.
Thank you for coming along.
