Constellation: Illuminating Your Everyday Experience
Workshop: Module One - Everything is speaking. Everything is singing. Listen to the language without words.
Welcome to Week One: Everything is Speaking (and Listening) to You
This week marks the beginning of your journey into illuminated awareness. Together, we will explore the language of the world around us—the signs, symbols, and synchronicity that speak directly to your heart and spirit.
In this module, you’ll find:
A prayer: Our opening invocation, a call to the unseen.
A bit of my personal story: How an ancient prayer and a yellow butterfly transformed my understanding of illuminated experience.
Prompts and experiments: Practices to deepen your connection with the world’s responsive aliveness.
This workshop includes a paywall. If you don’t see the rest of the module and wish to participate, simply become a paid subscriber [here]. You can also read more about the workshops [here].
Engaging with the Workshop
This workshop is a response to your call. Your participation is a vital part of the experience, but sharing is never required. Know that your engagement—whether quietly or in community—matters deeply.
Our community will grow in the comments below each module. If you’ve never participated in a workshop on Substack, you’re in for a surprise. Things feel different here - fresh and clean and friendly. This positive energy is nourishing and enlivening and you’ll notice blips of inspiration and real solid guidance popping up around you.
As you read a story posted by someone else, you may realize, Oh, wow! That also happened to me! or Ah, that reminds me of the time...
When this happens, click the like button. Leave a note. Share your own story. It may mean something to the next person. In this way, community builds as everything builds - through engagement.
You’ll see this demonstrated in this week’s story of the Yellow Butterfly. The more you play with the world, the more the world plays with you.
The First Principle of Illuminated Experience: The Field of Response
When you ask a question, say a prayer, or set an intention, you open a field of response around you. When you engage with this field, it answers.
Our workshop begins with a prayer. An invocation.
When this drawing was made by my daughter, Katie, our family had just moved to a new community. Katie was 9 or 10. Her older brother, Max, was 11, maybe 12. They were in Waldorf School and I was working my first job since they were born: as a Features Editor at Woman’s World Magazine. I was assigned to the slush pile where I spent my workdays searching for stories about joyful celebrations and family traditions.
I was always a spiritual person but when I pinned this prayer to the kitchen wall, I had no idea what was in store for me. . .
. . . No idea that five years later, I’d be ghost-writing the “My Guardian Angel” column with Doreen Virtue. No idea how radically my life would change after reading 10,000 personal accounts of miraculous encounter. No idea that I would be conversing with angels. Talking about angels. Writing about angels. No idea that I’d be given, through automatic writing, the text of a complete six-week workshop on spiritual awakening.
No idea and, if you’d told me, I’d have laughed. I was no one’s idea of a spiritual teacher. Though I’d (somehow) managed to land a job at a women’s magazine, I felt like a complete impostor. I’d been a stay at home mom for more than 10 years. What did I know about writing magazine articles? And each week, as another manuscript came back to me covered in red corrections, it only confirmed my doubts. Honestly, if we didn’t need the money, Id have given up. I was already doing a full-time job—raising two school-age kids and helping my elderly parents. Frazzled and overwhelmed, I suffered monthly migraines and often broke down crying.
. . . And yet, I kept going, sensing that if I could just hold on and maybe slow down for a minute, I might be able to do this. Might be able to write stories that connected with our readers. Might be able to reconnect with the part of myself that had always sensed something was helping and guiding me.
I have shared this part of my own story because I sense that like me, there’s a part of you that doubts and a part of you that knows. A part that struggles and a part that trusts. I imagine that like me, you’ve experienced flashes of insight, vivid dreams, visitations that feel illuminated, encounters with animals, butterflies, signs from lost loved ones.
Everyone has these experiences. It’s just that, even now, most people don’t talk about them. It took me YEARS to be brave enough to admit to my own experiences with angels. And more years, to be willing to make this my daily work.
This workshop is from the part of me who trusted. The part that knew. The part that was guided by something benevolent and good. She is the author of this workshop. She wrote it for that part in you.
The workshop continues below. If you don’t see it - and you want to participate, you can. Simply become a paid subscriber, here or, if you want more information, read about the Workshops here.
