I work for the planet. I usually don't get paid. The people displaying power today get paid a lot. I choose to protect nature and help the poor and sick.
Wanted to thank you, Amy, and all of you for your contributions. Today especially I needed the comfort of such thoughts. Last year I spent two dollars on a plaque I found in a thrift store -- it was my Valentine's gift to my husband -- with a quote attributed to Jimi Hendrix:
When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace.
Holding with you all. Sharing words by Toi Smith I received this morning:
“As the United States observes both Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Inauguration Day, we are confronted with the stark polarization and urgency of this moment. It reminds us of the incredible collective work that has been done in the pursuit of justice, equity, and liberation—while also exposing how much further we have to go. This day highlights the relentless organizing, dreaming, and community-building that have moved us closer to a more just world, even as we continue to face systemic oppression, environmental crises, widening inequality, and the grim reality of a fascist billionaire agenda assuming the highest office in our country.
This duality invites us to hold both the hope and the grief: the hope born from the tireless efforts of so many who refuse to give up on the possibility of a better future, and the grief of knowing that the systems in place continue to prioritize power and profit over people and the planet. It is a reminder that the struggle for liberation is not linear but cyclical and generational, demanding both resilience and renewal.
For me, this understanding is both empowering and emboldening. To see liberation as cyclical and generational allows me to honor and build upon the work of those who came before me—work that has created the conditions for me to survive and thrive in ways they may never have imagined. It also calls me to face the unique challenges of my time, challenges that previous generations could not have foreseen. This perspective reminds me that our struggles are interconnected, that the victories and setbacks of one era reverberate into the next, and that the work of liberation is never solitary but always part of a broader, enduring story.”
Thank you, Amy - yes, we hold and are held in love and blessing.
Howard Zinn:
“The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory.”
sigh. I remember something the guides told me once, when i was feeling the feels. "You cannot escape this love," they said. This is what I also know is real.
Thank you Amy and all circling around. I am choosing not to witness. And I'm taking a break from social media for a week. My choice is to listen to Dr. King's last speech and to remember his words:
"We need leaders not in love with money but in love with justice. Not in love with publicity but in love with humanity."
And I will add, in love with our precious amazing earth too 💚
I woke up today feeling like I have a flu coming on.. so I will stay quiet, drink rose and ginger tea, hold my brothers and sisters close, and keep being the light I want to see in the world. I’m not sure what my “activism,” will look like. Likely, it will remain where it has always been. Activating love for each other, animals, and Mother Earth.
Thank you for this post. Sighing softly as tears are so close. I just can’t watch the news… while I had thought I might try, I’m not even sure I can watch at noon.
I know there will be highlights… later, if/when that feels ok for me.
Gathering here, alongside and with you, feels like soothing medicine. As does the idea of buzzing blessings. Thank you. 🙏🏻
Thank you. I am enveloping myself in calm and peace as I look at the beauty of the snow-filled landscape outside my window. I will not post on social media, nor will I look at it. I will not watch TV, and thankfully, I don’t ever watch the news. I have client work to do, and that is how I will spend my day, ending with a walk in the snow.
Standing with all friends n America, no words xxx

May it be so. ❤️🌞

The hope and the grief. This is the Sacred Ache, isn’t it? The holding and the longing for what we are, ourselves, already holding.
Thank you Amy. Love wins.
Always. Every time.

A marvelous victory … to live not in defiance of bad but in devotion to the good.
Yes, deep sighs. I thought escaping to Puerto Rico would dull the day, not so.
Trying to keep MLK front and center in my thoughts today. Trusting in the higher goodness in the world.

Rose and ginger tea. Our warm circle, fire of love glowing at its center. This is our activism today.
Feel better. 💐
Thank you, sweetheart:
I am so Grateful for you, dear Amy. ❤️

Ah, Debbie. Here is a soft cushion in a warm spot by the fire. Tucking a soft blanket over your legs. Buzzing beside you.
Reading your comment brings the welcomed welling of tears from feeling heard, cared for, and tenderly loved. Thank you. I love you, too, Amy. ❤️

Yes, a lovely snow day walk seems the perfect plan. How the snow brightens the world: that's what I'm thinking right now. Blessings, Maureen. xxoo
Thank you Amy. We can all only do what we can. Whatever that is. And know that we are not alone.
We are not alone. We are with each other.
